What is FRANZCO?

FRANZCO stands for Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. It means Dr Teong has completed the full specialist training program in ophthalmology, passed rigorous examinations, and is qualified to diagnose, treat, and perform surgery on eye conditions.

What is medical retina?

Medical retina refers to the non-surgical treatment of conditions affecting the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. These conditions include macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusion. Treatment often involves intravitreal injections (medications placed inside the eye) and close monitoring over time.

What is glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that cause progressive damage to the optic nerve, often associated with elevated eye pressure. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to gradual and irreversible vision loss.

Early detection and regular monitoring are essential, as treatment can help slow or prevent further damage.

Can Dr Teong perform cataract surgery?

Yes. Dr Teong performs both routine and complex cataract surgery. Her training across multiple subspecialty areas means she is well-equipped to manage cataract cases that may involve additional complications or coexisting eye conditions.

Yes. Dr Teong performs a range of eyelid procedures to treat both functional and medical conditions of the eyelids. These include correction of ectropion (outward turning of the eyelid), entropion (inward turning of the eyelid), functional blepharoplasty (to improve vision affected by excess eyelid skin), and eyelid lesion assessment and biopsies.
