About Mary
Mary brings more than 35 years of experience as a senior orthoptist to Pure Sight Eye Surgeons, with a career defined by close collaboration across the full spectrum of eye care. Her clinical focus centres on the assessment and management of strabismus and complex eye muscle disorders, and she has worked alongside ophthalmologists in the broader care of patients with cataract disease, retinal conditions, and refractive disorders.
Throughout her career, Mary has worked with diverse patient groups, including children, older adults, and people with disabilities, adapting her approach to meet a wide range of clinical and personal needs.
Beyond the clinic, Mary has dedicated more than a decade to charitable eyecare work in Fiji through a Christian-run community outreach programme, providing vital services to underserved populations. Her contributions in this space have been formally recognised: she was acknowledged by former Federal Member of Parliament Chris Hayes and received a letter of gratitude signed by former Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
Mary is also a published author of a Young Adult fiction series – a reminder that a career built on precision and care can coexist with a love of storytelling.
